Speedwell Forge Bed and Breakfast, a bed and breakfast in Lititz, PA strives to ensure that its services are accessible to people with disabilities and is committed to making our website accessible to people with disabilities. We have invested resources to help ensure that our website is easier to use and more accessible for people with disabilities, we have a strong belief that every person has the right to live with dignity, equality, comfort, and independence.

Improvements will continue to be made to the website make it accessible for impaired users as per the World Wide Web Consortium’s Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0 Level AA (WCAG 2.0 AA). We test the site with various tools such as Wave (https://wave.webaim.org/). We will continue to make every effort to meet evolving accessibility standards.

Property Accessibility

Speedwell Forge Bed and Breakfast is listed on the National Register of Historic Places under the National Historic Preservation Act (16 U.S.C. 470 et seq.) or is designated as historic under State or local law (§ 36.405 Alterations: Historic preservation.). Thus, we are not able to offer extensive handicap-accessible accommodations since such alterations would destroy the historical significance of the property.

Parking

Our main driveway is all gravel and splits in two directions. Coming through the gate, bed and breakfast guests take the left fork toward the main house to check in.  We greet all our guests at their car and check them in at this parking area. From that area, you will sign in and then we will show you where to drive and park for your respective cottage.

Rooms

The Summer Kitchen cottage parking is the same parking area where all guests are checked in. The parking area is paved, wide and flat enough for at least two vehicles with handicap features such as wheelchair ramps and van doors. The path to the Summer Kitchen Cottage is all gravel. There are no steps into the Summer-Kitchen cottage and the door is 42 inches wide with a doorknob.

However, it is a two-story cottage built in 1760. The first floor has a living room and kitchenette. The stairs leading to the second floor follow the wall in a historical pie shaped fashion with narrow treads. The bedroom and bathroom are on the second floor. There is a queen-size bed and six-foot Sanijet whirlpool tub in the bedroom. The bathroom has a four-foot-wide shower with a seat and handheld bar with a short lip to access and a pedestal sink. This room is not recommended for guests with mobility issues.

The Paymaster’s Office cottage has a separate gravel parking and a gravel path leading to the cottage door. The door is 32 inches wide with a doorknob. There is one step at the entry, but otherwise single story. There is a kitchenette, bedroom, and bathroom. The entry door opens into the kitchenette and through there you pass through an interior door to the bedroom.

This cottage features a king-size bed, a six-foot Sanijet whirlpool tub in the bedroom, and a large gas fireplace. The bathroom has a four-foot-wide shower with a seat and handheld bar with a short entry curb and pedestal sink. The bathroom shower is not wheelchair accessible due to the placement of the toilet.

The Whyte House cottagehas a separate gravel parking and a gravel path leading to the cottage deck. There are 5 steps leading up to the front door of the cottage. This cottage is a single story. The entry door is 34 inches wide with a pull handle. There is a living room, kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom.

This cottage features a lovely sitting area in the living room, a king-size bed in the bedroom and six-foot Aquatic Claw foot air tub in the bathroom, and a large corner shower with a seat and handheld bar with a short entry curb and pedestal sink. The full kitchen has a bar-height dining table with matching chairs, oven, refrigerator, and Keurig coffee maker. The kitchen has silverware, dishes, pots, and pans.

Elevators & Stairs

There are no elevators and all cottages have stairs.

There is no public restroom.

The breakfasts are chefs’ choice tailored according to all food allergies and restrictions that each guest has made us aware of during the reservation process.
