Stunning Scenery at Speedwell Forge
The Speedwell Forge Bed and Breakfast features beautiful grounds in an area full serene, beautiful and stunning secnery. There is no shortage of open country farms, lakes, streams or wetlands in the Amish country here in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
However we encourage our guests to walk the 30+ acres available to our guests, plus the 20 acres of wetlands. The wetlands are a goldmine for wildlife lovers, especially for bird enthusiasts. Just across the road is the Speedwell Forge County nature park, featuring beautiful walking paths in the center of some of Pennsylvania’s most scenic countryside. Just a very short drive, we encourage guests to visit Middle Creek, another scenic and peaceful place to visit during your stay.

This was a much needed get away for my boyfriend from his work. It was a surprise for him and he had no clue where we were going. The suite is wonderful, more than I could have wished for. The fireplace is grand. The tub wonderful. We loved the wolves and enjoyed walking the ground. We will be back again

We are so happy to have discovered Speedwell Forge…. Loved staying in Kathryn’s room, the beautiful restoration of the house, the grounds, the out buildings, and the peaceful tranquility of the situation. And the wolves! What a unique experience to be able to watch them in all their magnificence. We will be back! Memorable

The peace…the quiet….the tranquility…what a magical escape from the rigors of daily existence. A breather we both desperately needed from the DC Area. Folks are actually NICE here!
And for now, we must return to the harshness of reality. Until our return, we will always have “the Paymaster’s Office.”

Thank you Dawn, for the wonderful time we spent at the inn. The breakfast was 5 Star from the granola to the apple waffles. The wolves were spectacular too. You should be proud of all the accomplishments you have done- from restoring the inn to being a gourmet chef!

As I begin to write I look out the window and see evidence of the rolling hills of Pennsylvania and a wonderful husky snoozing or just relaxing below. My vantage point is from a restored historical house, done with care and maintained with love from one generation to the next. All is well here and Pat and I are better from our short stay. Good food, good people, in a wonderful setting. We pledge to return again with some friends.

While we travel frequently, this was our first stay at a B&B. We carefully selected this one after checking many out online. We were not disappointed.
The Paymaster’s Office was both cozy and romantic. We enjoyed making our own cheese and then chocolate fondue in the kitchenette on Friday and received massages in our room, followed by a delicious filet mignon dinner prepared/served by Bill Schuler on Saturday. Both added a nice touch to our weekend!
Dawn’s breakfast was yummy both mornings! Thanks for the hospitality and a wonderful romantic weekend!
